8. Matt Cutts: "Try something new for 30 days."

1) A RUT (n)
a deep, narrow mark made in soft ground especially by a wheel:
I knew that ruts on the ground were a sign that he is somewhere here.
The road was full of ruts.

2) TO SUBTRACT (v)
to remove a number from another number:
Four subtracted from ten equals six.
In their first year at school, children learn to add and subtract.

3) TO DWELL (v)
to live in a place or in a particular way:
She has dwelt in remote parts of Asia for many years.
My friends dwell in poverty.

4) A NERD (n)
1. a person, especially a man, who is not attractive and is awkward or socially embarrassing:
He was a real nerd in high school - I can't believe he's so handsome now.
2. a person who is extremely interested in one subject, especially computers and knows a lot of facts about it:
I'm a real grammar nerd.

5. TO DEPRIVE (v)
to take something, especially something necessary or pleasant, away from someone:
He claimed that he had been deprived of his rights.
You can't function properly when you're deprived of sleep.
